Google Maps Real-Time GPS Tracker

Google Maps Real-Time GPS Tracker

I came across an interesting site that shows you how to do some real-time tracking of your location using google maps. Since I am in the research and planning phase of a project that will do this for HTC(pocket pc phones) and pocket pc devices, it was right up my alley:)

Mark of the Beast, Aisle Four and Other Wireless: RFID Stories : Gizmodo

Apparently the folks at Gizmodo thought Stan looked close enough to SATAN for goverment work. "Re: the image. I did a Google search but misspelled ‘satan’ as ‘stan.’ So that’s Stan. He might also be Satan, but I’m not sure." Says Gizmodo

CellTrack - Cellphone Tracking by SPV-Developers.com

CellTrack - Cellphone Tracking by SPV-Developers.com

This site uses Cell Site info to locate your current position. It is still in development, but it sure beats dropping thousands of dollars for Microsoft Location Services. I have also included a pic of the display you can use for a email or forums signature. Pretty Sweet!

Mapping photos taken with Windows Mobile

Windows Mobile Team Blog : Mapping photos taken with Windows Mobile

Here is the Microsoft Mobile Bloggers version of applying geocoding info to your moblog and viewing the info with Microsoft Mappoint Location Server. Is it just me or does everyone use Flickr? I am surprised it is a Yahoo company and not Google. If you want some more info on geocoding your blog, check out geobloggers at http://www.geobloggers.com

Wireless Networking in Windows 2003

Andrew Tabona has a nice how to article for setting up IAS and radius authentication for wireless networks here. I know that when I tackled this setup, finding relative info was like pulling teeth, so hopefully this will help any of you planning on securing your wifi with Windows 2003 IAS

July 4th Vacation and Suse 9.3

Took a couple days off work to celebrate being lazy, So I decided to take the fam to Macinac Island.
Since I was going up there I decided to wardrive as well, since I have heard that the Macinac Bridge
has some access points on it as well as some on the island. Wardriving on a horse and buggy is called what? Would I be riding in the worlds first warbuggy? Unfortunately I couldnt figure out how to get gpsdrive to compile under Fedora Core 4 so I decided to attempt downloading the Suse 9.3 pro DVD again. Unfortunately due to the lack of a dual density DVD burner required to burn the 7+ gigabyte official iso I had to settle for a slimmed down version containing only the x86 portion. I dont have a 64 bit processor so that works for me. You can find the torrent at http://www.knetdome.com/bt/?torrent=suse93 thanks to knetknight from linuxiso.org
It took me two times to download the file before it worked correctly, but it is sweet! Finally support for the Delorme Earthmate USB in the stock kernel, as well as a working version of the hostap drivers and gpsdrive. Kismet compiles easily as well. Unfortunately for some reason I cant get the sound working, everything appears to be functioning but no sound. If it wernt for that and figuring out how to use Visual Studio.Net in Linux, I think I would remove the Windows partion from my laptop completely. Oh well, give it a year. But back to Macinac Island, we went early Saturday morning, leaving at 5:30 am to make a 10:00 yacht race. The boys enjoyed it, but I think it was more walking than they were willing to do. After the first mile I had to start cracking the whip;-)
The place I had worked at while living on the island ten years ago had been converted to a bistro, and my favorite late night stop Surreys sub shop had disapeared. Other than that not much change, the fudgies still drive you crazy, the cops are jerks and the stench of horse shit and fudge filled the air. I have posted a few pics in the photo gallery
